Basketball Recap: Jamesville-Dewitt Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Jamesville-DeWitt won the last time they faced McQuaid Jesuit and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Jamesville-DeWitt Red Rams snuck past the McQuaid Jesuit Knights with a 61-55 victory. Given the Red Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Knights are ranked 357th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why McQuaid Jesuit lost, don't look at Jaiyden Jones. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 14 on his way to 26 points and six rebounds. Jones continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Fox, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Jamesville-DeWitt has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for McQuaid Jesuit, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-6.

Jamesville-DeWitt wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 75-55 win against Fowler on the 10th. As for McQuaid Jesuit, they will head out to take on Wilson Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
