Softball Recap: Lockney Has No Trouble Against Memphis

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clarendon, Lockney was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Memphis Cyclones. With that victory, the Longhorns brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Madison Marmolejo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. Marmolejo was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Lockney got a massive performance out of Tori Luna, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Luna a new career-high. Victoria Salazar was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

The win snapped Lockney's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-13 record. As for Memphis, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lockney will face off against Clarendon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Memphis, they will challenge Petersburg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cyclones will need to watch out since the Buffaloes have now posted at least ten runs in their last six contests.
