Basketball Game Preview: Southside Panthers vs. Calhoun Tigers

Having just played yesterday, the Southside Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Calhoun Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Southside can't be too worried about heading out to take on Calhoun: they just beat Hatch at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Southside walked away with a 70-58 victory over Hatch on Monday.

Meanwhile, Calhoun had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. They snuck past the Flying Squadron with a 59-55 win.

Calhoun is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.9 points per game. As for Southside, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.

Southside didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Calhoun when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 64-59 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Calhoun's Tyler Robertson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards.
