Basketball Recap: Pine View Triumphs

Pine View extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday, bumping them up to 6-3. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 49-48 W against the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since January 18, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pine View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ella Fiefia, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards. That's the most rebounds Fiefia has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Gustin, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 13 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Pine View was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crimson Cliffs only racked up five.

As for Crimson Cliffs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. Mustangs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Pine View since Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Crimson Cliffs lost, don't look at Josie Myers. Despite the final result, she earned 16 points along with seven blocks and six boards. Myers is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Jaynee Hahl was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Pine View is set to square off against their familiar foe Hurricane at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Crimson Cliffs will challenge rival Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
