Mercer Island has gone 9-1 against Sammamish recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. Mercer Island knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Sammamish likes a good challenge.

On Monday, Mercer Island got the win against Interlake by a conclusive 60-40. The victory continues a trend for the Islanders in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Sammamish lost 69-45 to Hazen on Monday.

Mercer Island will have to contain Rakin Showki as he made an impact in Sammamish's last game. He dropped a double-double with 32 points and 11 rebounds. Showki's big performance that evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points.

Mercer Island's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Sammamish, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Mercer Island couldn't quite finish off Sammamish in their previous meeting back in January and fell 58-56. Can the Islanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
