Basketball Recap: Piney Woods Comes Up Short

Piney Woods played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 62-21 defeat at the hands of the Provine Rams. The Tornadoes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-11.

Despite the loss, Piney Woods saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maria-Tiffany Kengni posted 19 points. That was a full 90.5% of the Tornadoes' points, marking the third time in a row Kengni has put up more than a third of the team's points.

Piney Woods' defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Provine, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Piney Woods will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on South Pike at 6:00 p.m. on the 18th. As for Provine, they will face off against Murrah at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
