Volleyball Recap: 13 Straight Home Victories for St. Xavier

St. Xavier entered their tilt with Mt. Vernon on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Yellowjackets. The Bombers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Yellowjackets, too.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-14, 16-25, 25-18.

Benjamin Soloria paced St. Xavier's offense, picking up 11 kills. Soloria got some help from Connor Fahey and his 28 assists. Soloria was also solid from the service line: he led the team with six aces.

St. Xavier pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mt. Vernon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Xavier will welcome Roger Bacon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against St. Charles at 7:00 p.m.
