Soccer Game Preview: Somerset Academy vs. Cooper City

The Somerset Academy Panthers will challenge the Cooper City Cowboys at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Somerset Academy took a three-goal loss the last time they faced off against Columbus, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Explorers 2-1.

Santiago Lopez and Mateo Gallego scored both of Somerset Academy's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Cooper City made sure to put some goals up on the board against Cardinal Gibbons last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Chiefs 4-3. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Cooper City were the better team in the second half.

The win got Cooper City back to even at 3-3. As for Somerset Academy, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-3-2.

Somerset Academy took their win against Cooper City when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 5-1 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Cowboys have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
