Basketball Recap: Brazos Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Brazos had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Palacios Sharks with a sharp 60-40 victory on Tuesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Sharks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Brazos was led to victory by Haiden Hickman and Jevan Dickerson. Hickman went 9-for-20 to rack up 22 points in addition to eight boards and three steals, while Dickerson posted 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Elijah Milligan, who earned six points along with six boards and three steals.

Palacios' loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Brazos will square off against Wharton at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Palacios, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-33 defeat against La Marque on the 20th.
