Softball Recap: Wortham Comes Up Short on the Road Against Rice

Wortham had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against Rice on Tuesday, falling 9-2. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Wortham saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Megan Cryer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Rice has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-1-1 record this season.

Wortham will take on Elkhart in a tournament on Friday. Elkhart is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Rice, they will welcome Athens at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rice also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 9.4 runs per game.
