Basketball Recap: Episcopal Extends Winning Streak to Four

Episcopal waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They strolled past the Shepherd Pirates with points to spare, taking the game 69-50. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Pirates are ranked 372nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shepherd lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brayden White, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. White's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Braydon Mettlen, who went 7 of 15 en route to 16 points and six rebounds.

Episcopal's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Shepherd, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.

Episcopal will head out to challenge St. Pius X at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shepherd will take on Tarkington in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tarkington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Shepherd likes a good challenge.
