Football Recap: Middle Tennessee Christian Comes Up Short

Middle Tennessee Christian and Trinity Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Middle Tennessee Christian had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 49-0 loss at the hands of the Lions. The shutout was out of character for the Cougars seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in August.

Le'Marlo Nichols threw for 73 yards on eight of 15 attempts. Malachi White was his top target, picking up 48 receiving yards. On the ground, Alie Bangura rushed for 67 yards.

Owen Atwood was his usual excellent self, rushing for 84 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, while also throwing for 111 yards and one TD while completing 81.8% of his passes for Trinity Christian Academy. Atwood really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. Gabe Lee did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 82 receiving yards.

Middle Tennessee Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Trinity Christian Academy, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

As of now, neither Middle Tennessee Christian nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
