Softball Recap: Stanton's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Stanton's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Brownfield Cubs, sneaking past 6-5. This was payback for the Buffaloes, who suffered a 5-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lily Rodgers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Stanton got a big performance out of Peyton Little, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Aubrey Villa was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Little wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Stanton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February.

The victory snapped Stanton's losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-9-1 record. As for Brownfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Stanton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-2 loss against Denver City on the 15th. As for Brownfield, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-0 defeat against Coahoma on the 15th.
