Football Recap: Cajon Cowboys vs. Orange Vista Coyotes
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against San Jacinto, Cajon was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They secured a 28-24 W over the Orange Vista Coyotes. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cowboys also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cajon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Rivers, who rushed for 172 yards. Rivers' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards dating back to last season. Jered Rennick did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 104 receiving yards.
Cajon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orange Vista only rushed for 22.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cajon's defense and their three sacks. In that department, Amahj Nolley was the leader with two. Another thorn in Orange Vista's side was Taylor Johnson, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles.
When it comes to explaining why Orange Vista lost, don't look at Khalil Abdul-Aziz. Despite the final result, he threw for 180 yards and three touchdowns.
Cajon's record is now 4-1. As for Orange Vista, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Cajon has already played their next contest, a 34-31 defeat against Beaumont on the 4th. As for Orange Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 49-12 victory against Paloma Valley on the 4th.
