            Football Recap: Fruita Monument Wildcats vs. Mountain Vista Golden Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            
After soaring to 35  points the game before, Fruita Monument was a bit more limited  in their  matchup  on Thursday. They were dealt  a  62-7 loss at the hands of the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Golden Eagles are ranked second).
 Cooper Rowell threw for 67 yards and one  TD.   Brycen Crabb was his top target, picking up 40 receiving yards.  On the ground,  Chris Bennett rushed for 51 yards.
  Marquise Reese produced another solid  performance throwing for 296 yards and five  touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes for Mountain Vista. What's more,  Reese racked up 166.7  passer rating, the most he's  had since back in August of 2024.  Brody Callister helped  Reese out on the ground, rushing for 90 yards and one  score on only seven carries.
Fruita Monument has  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record  this season. As for Mountain Vista, the  victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
 Looking ahead, Fruita Monument will be playing at home against Valor Christian  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Wildcats' defense better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 38.6  points per game this season. As for Mountain Vista, they will challenge Rock Canyon at 7:00  p.m.  on  the 24th.
