Basketball Game Preview: New Bedford Whalers vs. Dartmouth Indians

The New Bedford Whalers will venture away from home to square off against the Dartmouth Indians at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as New Bedford comes in on five and Dartmouth on 11.

Last Monday, New Bedford earned a 62-55 win over Greater New Bedford RVT. Given the Whalers' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Bears are ranked 112th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Dartmouth really took it to Barnstable for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-29 victory. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Dartmouth pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for New Bedford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

New Bedford suffered a grim 60-38 defeat to Dartmouth when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can New Bedford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
