Softball Recap: Bandys Drops Season-High Score on Newton-Conover

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bandys). They blew past the Newton-Conover Red Devils 20-5 on Tuesday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Rylie Tucker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Tucker was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Bandys let Avery Alexander and Paige Barrymore run wild. Alexander went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs, while Barrymore scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Barrymore has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jessie Sipe, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Bandys hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Bandys' victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Newton-Conover, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bandys will host North Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bandys is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Newton-Conover, they will welcome St. Stephens at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newton-Conover is facing St. Stephens at the right time seeing as St. Stephens is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
