Central is 2-8 against Clovis North since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Grizzlies will be playing at home against the Broncos at 3:30 p.m. Central will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Central and Buchanan faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Tuesday. The Grizzlies had just enough and edged out the Bears 3-2.

Kaia Galaviz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Bakholdin, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Grace Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clovis North). They blew past Clovis 12-3 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Broncos needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Jocelynn Gonzalez made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gonzalez was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Zoey Thomas and Brynn Gentry did most of the damage at the plate: Thomas went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Gentry scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those five RBI gave Thomas a new career-high. Riley Grealy was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Clovis North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Clovis North has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 12-1-1.
