Recap: Stanton County Trojans vs. Sublette Larks

The Stanton County Trojans's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past Sublette with points to spare, taking the game 44-25. Given Stanton County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Sublette is ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Stanton County found their leader in underclassman Avery Scott, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 20 rebounds. Scott is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lexy Martinez, who scored ten points.

Sublette's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Talyna Guenter, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.

The victory got Stanton County back to even at 4-4. As for Sublette, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stanton County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Southwestern Heights at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Southwestern Heights will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Sublette, they will head out on the road to square off against Wichita County at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Wichita County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
