Soccer Game Preview: Wharton vs. Rice Consolidated

The Wharton Tigers will challenge the Rice Consolidated Raiders at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Wharton's offense. They lost 3-0 to Calhoun on Tuesday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Sandcrabs recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, Rice Consolidated also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Bay City on Friday, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 640th, while the Blackcats are ranked 203rd).

Wharton's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Rice Consolidated, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6-3 record this season.

Everything went Wharton's way against Rice Consolidated in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Wharton made off with a 5-1 victory. Does Wharton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rice Consolidated turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
