Softball Recap: Westbrook Knights vs. Valley Regional Warriors

Westbrook had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-10 to make it eight. They came up short against the Valley Regional Warriors, falling 14-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 back in April.

As for Valley Regional, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7. Considering they have won five matchups by more than 11 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Valley Regional's part, Paige Williams made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Williams was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Erwin, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Amelia Giantonio also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
