Preview: Lakewood Tigers vs. Adams City Eagles
The Lakewood Tigers will take on the Adams City Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Lakewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Tuesday.
Lakewood had to start their season on the road , and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell to Boulder 53-47. Lakewood found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 24% worse than the opposition.
Lakewood's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Dyani Parrish, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 steals, and Iben Last who scored 12 points along with 7 steals and 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Adams City couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 34-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wheat Ridge.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Fernanda Hernandez, who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds and 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Erika Contreras-Gomez, who scored 4 points along with 9 rebounds.
Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Adams City, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 0-1.
