Basketball Recap: Hugo Gonzalez and Sanjay Geffers Secure Win for West Grand

West Grand won the last time they faced Soroco and things went their way on Friday too. The Mustangs came out on top against the Rams by a score of 46-39.

West Grand was led to victory by Sanjay Geffers and Hugo Gonzalez. Geffers dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds, while Gonzalez dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards. Those ten boards gave Geffers a new career-high. Stran Lechman was another key player, putting up three points and ten rebounds.

West Grand's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Soroco, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

West Grand and Soroco will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Mustangs see the court they'll take on Gilpin County at 1:00 p.m. on January 10, 2026. As for Soroco, their break will end when they face Rangely at 4:00 p.m. on January 10, 2026.
