Softball Preview: Milford Spartans vs. Sanborn Regional Indians
The Milford Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the Sanborn Regional Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Milford has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Sanborn Regional will arrive with six straight victories.
Things were looking good for Milford after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 24-7 to Coe-Brown Academy.
Milford saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mya Coombs, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Arabelle Danforth was another, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, while Sanborn Regional put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Bow. The Indians had just enough and edged out the Falcons 1-0.
The result came thanks to Phoebe Hood's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
Sanborn Regional's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Milford, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
