Baseball Recap: Carson Comes Up Short

Carson had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-15 to make it five. They came up short against the Reed Raiders, falling 14-4. The Senators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Carson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kodie Campbell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

As for Reed, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.

On Reed's side, Ryan Vanek made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Vanek has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Adam Means was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Brown, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Coming up, Carson will be playing at home against Galena at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Grizzlies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.13 runs per game on average), something the Senators will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Reed, they will square off against Spanish Springs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
