Softball Game Preview: Westminster Christian Academy Chargers vs. Gueydan Bears

The Westminster Christian Academy Chargers will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Gueydan Bears at 5:00 p.m. Westminster Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Westminster Christian Academy will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Highland Baptist Christian on Tuesday. The Chargers came out on top against the Bears by a score of 10-7. The victory was some much needed relief for the Chargers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Brylee Nero, who fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-3. Those hits were her first of the season. Kiley LeBlanc was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Westminster Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland Baptist Christian only posted an OBP of .387.

Meanwhile, Gueydan fell victim to Abbeville and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Bears' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Westminster Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Gueydan, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9.
