Recap: Wheeler Eagles vs. Tremont Eagles

The Wheeler Eagles can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 36-29 victory over Tremont. That's another feather in the cap for Wheeler, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Wheeler's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rebekah Mason led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Mason hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for three straight games. Aubree James was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kara George, who scored eight points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Gillespie, who scored nine points.

Tremont struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Wheeler pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.

Wheeler's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14. As for Tremont, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Wheeler and Biggersville will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Wheeler focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday. As for Tremont, they will head out on the road to square off against Smithville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Tremont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
