Baseball Game Preview: Clay Eagles vs. Bowling Green Bobcats

The Clay Eagles will square off against the Bowling Green Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Clay's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Bowling Green's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Clay came up short against Anthony Wayne and fell 8-5. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clay got a big performance out of Landon Eversman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Eversman has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Brayden Toneff, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Meanwhile, Bowling Green fell victim to Perrysburg and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Yellow Jackets, falling 8-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Yellow Jackets: they've now lost four in a row.

Bowling Green saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kasey Dean, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

Clay's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Bowling Green, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Bowling Green's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Clay has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bowling Green, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Clay keep running through batters, or will the Bobcats buck the trend?

Clay took their win against Bowling Green in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
