Basketball Recap: New Castle's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

New Castle lost to Anderson back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The New Castle Trojans narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Anderson Indians 47-45.

New Castle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carlee Lanzer out in front who posted 20 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Lanzer a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Alana Orr, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 15 points.

When it comes to explaining why Anderson lost, don't look at Jamyia Foster. Despite the final result, she earned eight points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cambreanna Austin, who scored six points and six boards.

New Castle's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16. As for Anderson, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-21.

Both are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. New Castle will take on Yorktown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Yorktown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season. As for Anderson, they will face off against Muncie Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Muncie Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
