Basketball Game Preview: Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk vs. Mystic Valley Regional Eagles

Having just played yesterday, the Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk will get right back to it and host the Mystic Valley Regional Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Innovation Academy will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Innovation Academy is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Notre Dame Cristo Rey on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Innovation Academy was outmatched by Notre Dame Cristo Rey and fell 79-51. While losing is never fun, the The Red Tailed Hawk can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Panthers are ranked 106th).

Innovation Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Elijah Vega, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 18 points, and Bryce Kankam, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Kankam is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jordy Pe?a-Lugo, who posted five points.

Meanwhile, Mystic Valley Regional didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Minuteman Regional on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 60-55 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Innovation Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Mystic Valley Regional, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Innovation Academy strolled past Mystic Valley Regional in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 60-43. Does Innovation Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mystic Valley Regional turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
