Basketball Recap: Jackson Heights Drops Highest Score of Season Against Valley Falls

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jackson Heights). They strolled past the Valley Falls Dragons with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 56-40. The Cobras pushed the score to 49-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Dragons cut but never quite recovered from.

Chesnea Cochren was the offensive standout of the game as she to rack up 17 points and seven rebounds. Those 17 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Savannah Cattrell, who posted 12 points.

Jackson Heights was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Falls only seven assists.

Despite the defeat, Valley Falls saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chloe Cox put up 17 points and eight steals. Cox's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Meyer, who scored seven points and six boards.

Jackson Heights' win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Valley Falls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-17.

Jackson Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Valley Falls, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-41 victory against Perry-Lecompton on the 24th.
