Basketball Recap: West Linn Falls Short Against Ranked Highlands Ranch

West Linn is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Highlands Ranch. The West Linn Lions fell just short of the Highlands Ranch Falcons by a score of 57-54. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why West Linn lost, don't look at Reese Jordan. Despite the final result, she went 6 of 10 on her way to 17 points and six boards. The contest was Jordan's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylor Buse, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Leading Highlands Ranch to victory were Jayda Rogers and Ezra Simonich. Rogers went 8 of 10 on her way to 20 points and six rebounds, while Simonich went 7 of 16 on her way to 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Tori Baker was another key player, putting up five points and five rebounds.

West Linn's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Highlands Ranch, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

West Linn wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 46-32 loss against Mesquite on the 21st. As for Highlands Ranch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-32 win against Skyridge on the 21st.
