Volleyball Preview: Las Cruces Bulldawgs vs. Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls
On Friday Las Cruces will have to hit the road after three straight games at home. After both having extra time off, they and the Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Las Cruces made easy work of Hobbs and carried off a 3-0 win.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Las Cruces took every set by at least 15 points. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-8, 25-10.
Las Cruces couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 50% of their attack attempts. The last time their hitting percentage was this high was back in October of 2023.
Meanwhile, Carlsbad was able to grind out a solid victory over Alamogordo on Saturday, taking the game 3-1.
Las Cruces pushed their record up to 7-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Carlsbad, their record is now 4-5.
Las Cruces took their victory against Carlsbad when the teams last played back in September of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Las Cruces since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
