3A Eastern Carolina league recap: 3/8/13

Top honors in the league this week go to Cleveland, which finished with three wins overall, good for best in the league. The Rams beat Clayton 10-3, North Lenoir 5-1 and Smithfield-Selma 8-2.

Cleveland made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from sixth to first place in 3A Eastern Carolina thanks to a 3-1 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Southern Wayne fell hardest in the standings, dropping from second all the way to seventh place after going 0-1 in the past week.

After surrendering only five walks in the past week, Triton remains No. 1 in the league in that category for the season, with just five total.

Matthew Webb led the Hawks to a win on February 28, as he notched nine strikeouts to beat Western Harnett, 8-2. Over four innings of work, he gave up two hits and two runs.
