Baseball Recap: Stewarts Creek Comes Up Short

Stewarts Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of the Siegel Stars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 last Monday.

Stewarts Creek got a good showing from Ben Bryant, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Bryant a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Coleman Neas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Ayden Jackson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Stewarts Creek's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Siegel, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Coming up, Stewarts Creek will host Blackman at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Siegel, they will take on Beech in a tournament on Friday.
