Baseball Game Preview: Detroit Country Day Yellowjackets vs. Lutheran North Mustangs

The Detroit Country Day Yellowjackets will venture away from home to square off against the Lutheran North Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Detroit Country Day is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 15-5 to Rochester. Yellowjackets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Falcons since on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Lutheran North entered their tilt with Cranbrook Kingswood on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Cranes get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The game marked the Mustangs' most dominant win of the season so far.

Lutheran North's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Detroit Country Day, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Detroit Country Day might still be hurting after the 19-5 defeat they got from Lutheran North when the teams last played back in June of 2017. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
