Basketball Recap: Hopewell's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

The Hopewell Titans were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 65-61 to the Weddington Warriors. The loss put an end to the Titans' undefeated start to the season.

Weddington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Muteb, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 boards gave Muteb a new career-high. Tre Jefferson was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 18 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hopewell fell to 2-1. As for Weddington, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Coming up, Hopewell will take on Rocky River at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Weddington, they will square off against Ardrey Kell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
