Softball Game Preview: Leake County Gators vs. Heidelberg Oilers

After both having extra time off, the Leake County Gators and the Heidelberg Oilers will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leake County is looking for their season's first victory.

Leake County lost 24-4 to Louisville last Thursday.

Meanwhile, Heidelberg was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Perry Central, falling 24-10.

Zhyria Jones made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Mariyah Farrell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Even though they lost, Heidelberg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Leake County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Heidelberg, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 0-4.
