Baseball Recap: Marysville Has No Trouble Against Valley Christian

After only one run in their last game, Marysville made sure to put some runs up on the board against Valley Christian on Friday. The Indians blew past the Lions 11-0. The Indians not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 12th (when they won 14-3).

Avery Landrum made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Marysville is undefeated when Landrum posts two or more runs, but 5-18-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Austin Jacobs was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Karter Ellyson, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Marysville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-18-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Valley Christian, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-4 record.

As of now, neither Marysville nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
