Preview: Jefferson County Tigers vs. Magee Trojans

Jefferson County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Magee Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Jefferson County had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Southeast Lauderdale 62-6 at home. Jefferson County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matchups by 30 points or more this season.

Royale Shelvy and Jabari Watson were among the main playmakers for Jefferson County as the former gained 133 total yards and two touchdowns and the latter threw for 213 yards and five touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Jadavis Galtney, who picked up 86 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, even though Perry Central scored an imposing 40 points on Friday, Magee still came out on top. Magee walked away with a 48-40 victory over Perry Central. The win made it back-to-back wins for Magee.

Kendarious Porter and Kendal Middleton were among the main playmakers for Magee as the former rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry and the latter rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Magee also got help from Jeremiah Cole who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.

Jefferson County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Magee, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.

Jefferson County came up short against Magee in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 36-26. Can Jefferson County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
