Basketball Recap: Maize Takes a Loss

Maize lost against South back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Maize Eagles lost to the South Cougars at home by a 48-32 margin. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

It was another big night for Paityn Fritz, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 17 rebounds for South. That makes it five consecutive games in which Fritz has scored at least a third of South's points. Another player making a difference was Tamia Cheeks, who posted ten points and five boards.

Maize's loss dropped their record down to 4-11-1. As for South, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Coming up, Maize will head out on the road to face off against Valley Center at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Maize South at 6:00 p.m.
