Softball Game Preview: Needles Mustangs vs. White Pine Bobcats

Needles is a perfect 10-0 against White Pine since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Mustangs will face off against the Bobcats at 10:00 a.m. Needles knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past 17 contests -- so hopefully White Pine likes a good challenge.

Needles is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on White Pine with a sharp 14-7 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won 20 matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Audrina Bullchild spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Peyton Jackson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Emmerson Powell, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Needles hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive games.

Needles is on a roll lately: they've won 21 of their last 22 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for White Pine, their victory bumped their record up to 17-14.
