Basketball Recap: Mountainside Falls Short Against Ranked Benson Tech

On Tuesday, Mountainside faced Benson Tech in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Mountainside Mavericks took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Benson Tech Astros. That makes it the first time this season the Mavericks have let down their home crowd.

Mountainside's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5. As for Benson Tech, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

Mountainside will face off against Southridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Benson Tech, they will host Roosevelt at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Benson Tech's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
