Basketball Recap: Polk County Takes a Loss

Polk County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 79-29 defeat at the hands of the Hendersonville Bearcats. Having soared to a lofty 63 points in the game before, the Wolverines couldn't push the score so high this time.

Hendersonville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Martiste Mills, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points and six assists. Mills is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Caden Thomas was another key player, putting up eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Polk County's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Hendersonville, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Polk County will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on R-S Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Hendersonville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-49 loss against Asheville Christian Academy on the 14th.
