Basketball Recap: Hillcrest's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Wednesday

After losing to Cardozo the last time they met, Hillcrest decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hillcrest Hawks came out on top against the Cardozo Judges by a score of 40-28 on Wednesday. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Judges are ranked 484th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hillcrest's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.7 points per game. As for Cardozo, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Hillcrest is taking a road trip to square off against Queens Complex at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Queens Complex's defense has only allowed 29.7 points per game this season, so Hillcrest's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Cardozo, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Forest Hills at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th.
