Preview: Hawkinsville Red Devils vs. Dodge County Indians

Hawkinsville is 2-8 against Dodge County since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hawkinsville Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Dodge County Indians at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Hawkinsville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 50-39 to Wilcox County. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hawkinsville has scored all season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Darius Anderson, who scored nine points along with 19 rebounds and three blocks. Anderson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Martin Mcdonald, who scored nine points.

Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Dodge County's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Worth County. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Dodge County came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Worth County is ranked 240th).

Hawkinsville's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Dodge County, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-2.

Hawkinsville might still be hurting after the 58-33 loss they got from Dodge County in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Hawkinsville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
