 West Lafayette was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight  loss. They took  a  3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Western Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to West Lafayette of the  4-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April.
  Dani Rawles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.
 On Western's side,  not much got past  Kylie Miller, who gave up just  three  hits to keep West Lafayette off the board.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Brynley Erb, who  scored a  run and  stole three bases while going 3-for-3.
 West Lafayette's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Western, they pushed their record up to 20-1 with that  win, which was their 19th straight  on the road dating back to last season.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Lafayette will  take on Logansport at 5:30  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Western, they will head out on the road to  challenge  Westfield at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. Westfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2  runs per game  this season.
