Softball Recap: Dowagiac Has No Trouble Against St. Joseph

Dowagiac barely beat St. Joseph the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Dowagiac blew past St. Joseph 7-1 on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 on Wednesday.

Rebecca Guernsey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Guernsey was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia McIntosh, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Claire Hess, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Dowagiac has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs this season. As for St. Joseph, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Dowagiac and St. Joseph will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time Dowagiac sees the field they'll take on South Haven at 4:00 p.m. on April 8. As for St. Joseph, their break will end when they face Lakeview at 4:00 p.m. on April 10.
