The Elgin Owls will face off against the MacArthur Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Elgin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.

Elgin proved they can win big on Friday (they won by eight) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Harrah 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Owls have posted since March 28th.

Kade Hilliary spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 13 Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ritson Meyer, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, MacArthur was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carl Albert.

Elgin is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for MacArthur, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.

Elgin skirted past MacArthur 2-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Owls repeat their success, or do the Highlanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
