Softball Game Preview: San Joaquin Memorial Panthers vs. Torres Toros

The San Joaquin Memorial Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Torres Toros at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Joaquin Memorial is looking for their season's first win.

Friday just wasn't the day for San Joaquin Memorial's offense. They came up short against Fresno on Friday, falling 24-0.

San Joaquin Memorial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Boyer, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Anne Garcia also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Torres, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Roosevelt with a sharp 16-5 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Toros, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

J'lynn Mitchell was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Chavez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Torres pushed their record up to 9-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for San Joaquin Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

San Joaquin Memorial might still be hurting after the 30-0 defeat they got from Torres when the teams last played on April 4th. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
